Disaster Relief

North Shelby Baptist Church began its Disaster Relief Ministry after Hurricane Ivan ripped across the Gulf Coast in September 2004. We responded with four trips to Orange Beach Baptist Church. When Hurricane Katrina ravaged the coast in late 2005, we responded with ten trips in relief effort. We cut thousands of trees, removed tons of debris, but more importantly, touched countless lives.

Since then, many NSBC members have received training in Basic Disaster Relief/Mud Out and Recovery, Chain Saw, Child Care and Feeding Station. We have two members who are trained as upper level Blue Hats in Chain Saw, Chaplaincy and Critical Instance Stress Management.

In the event of a local disaster, NSBC will serve as a Feeding Unit, Childcare Facility and a Communications Center for the Shelby Baptist Association. If you are interested in being a part of this ministry, contact the NSBC office at 205-995-9056.
