Appointments with an Angel
Appointments are sometimes annoying to go to because you have to wait for a long time in a waiting room and then wait even longer to speak to a doctor. I am sure you have had to wait for an hour or so before even seeing a nurse. Appointments are important because they tell us news that we need to know to help us feel better. Mary and Joseph had an appointment with an angel but they did not plan their appointment. Mary and Joseph did not call the doctor to schedule this particular appointment but God planned it. God knew exactly what he was doing when he sent the angel Gabriel to speak with them. Matthew 1:18-23 and Luke 1: 26-38 speak of Mary and Joseph’s account with the angel. You know that Mary and Joseph did not know about the angel coming because they were afraid but the angel gave them peace to know that he was from the Lord and they shouldn’t be afraid.
Just like God took the initiative with Mary and Joseph He took the same initiative with us when He sent His Son to die on the cross (John 3:16). God took the initiative and made an appointment with us, the question is will we accept it. It started in Bethlehem when Jesus was born, continued to Calvary and will conclude at the second coming of Jesus Christ. Will you accept your appointment with the Lord? He died on the cross for your sins and He wants you to accept His appointment today but you are the only one who can accept the appointment. I hope you do.
